Nika Špan (b. 1967) completed her studies in painting in 1992 and then specialised in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. She completed her postgraduate studies in sculpture as part of the DAAD scholarship (1994/95) and later as a visiting student (1995/97) at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. She works in installation, performance, video and spatial and audio interventions. Recently, she has been part of group exhibitions at the Škuc Gallery, Ljubljana (2018); KGLU, Slovenj Gradec (2018/19), KV Malkasten, Düsseldorf (2020), project PULL: FAKTOR, Austria (2020) and UGM, Maribor (2020/21). Her recent exhibitions include solo shows at DUM Project Space in Ljubljana and the Škuc Gallery. She is the recipient of the Promotion Prize of Regional State Capital Düsseldorf (2006) and the 1st Award of the Rijeka Biennial of Young Artists (1993). Her works are part of the collections of Moderna galerija Ljubljana and UGM.
