Nika Autor

Nika Autor (b. 1982) obtained her bachelor master's degrees in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. She completed her doctorate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. She is engaged in researching video creativity with an emphasis on the form of a video essay and video installation, as well as photography and drawing. She represented Slovenia at the 2017 Venice Biennial. She has exhibited at the Jeu de Paume (Paris, 2014); in Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, (2019); Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten (Klagenfurt, 2020) and Vienna Künstlerhaus (2020). She is the recipient of the France Brenko Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Film Culture (2014), the Rihard Jakopič Award (2014), the IFFR Award (Found Footage Award International Film Festival Rotterdam, 2016) and the Award for Important Works of Art (University of Ljubljana, 2018). The works of Nika Autor are part of collections of museums and galleries both at home and abroad, among them the Arteast 2000+ International Collection; Benetton Foundation, Imago Mundi Collection and Metelkova Museum of Contemporary Art, Ljubljana. She is the co-founder of the Obzornica Front, a collective of artists from the fields of film, visual, cultural and political theory and art.
