Aleksandra Vajd

Aleksandra Vajd (b. 1971) studied photography at the Film and Television School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) and at the State University of New York at New Paltz. In 2008, she was awarded the degree of associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, Slovenia. From 2005 to 2015, she predominantly worked in collaboration with the Czech photographer Hynek Alt. Since 2008 she has headed the Studio of Photography at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and she also teaches Seminar on Theory of Photography at A.V.A. in Ljubljana. Her recent shows include three exhibitions in tandem with Jimena Mendoza at Drdova Gallery, Prague (2018), Lucie Drdova Gallery, Brussels (2018) and Significant Other, Vienna (2017), as well as solo shows at Street Level Photoworks, Glasgow (2017) and CASK Gallery, Larisa (2017). Her work was part of recent group exhibitions at Galerie Rudolfinum, Prague (2021), House of Photography, Prague (2020) and the 9th Triennial of Contemporary Art – U3 at Moderna galerija, Ljubljana (2019). Aleksandra Vajd lives and works between Prague and Ljubljana.
